CAREER JOURNEY

My early career was spent marketing for higher education and a corporate law firm before finding a home in accounting marketing. I led the marketing department for a small regional CPA firm in Pittsburgh. Throughout my six-year tenure, she helped the firm win three AAM-MAAs. In 2016, I left in-house marketing to pursue freelancing and then, a year later, full-time consulting. My agency, Seventh Gear Communications, has worked with Top 150 public accounting firms and small businesses on digital marketing, content development, and marketing strategy.

WHY THEY'RE SHARING THEIR EXPERTISE AT SUMMIT

Over the past 15 years, I have been both the in-house marketer and the external consultant. The experiences aren’t as different as you might think! It’s a two-way relationship that needs both parties to succeed. And sometimes, that means knowing when to walk away. I have experienced the ups and downs from both sides and learned how to manage expectations, stay focused on the long-term goals, and am hoping to pass along some of those lessons at Summit.

Ryen Salo

Ryen Salo is a seasoned client experience leader with over a decade of experience in the B2B SaaS industry. Currently serving as the Client Experience Manager at Herbein + Company, Inc., she leverages her extensive background to enhance client relationships and drive growth in the accounting and advisory space.

Prior to joining Herbein, Ryen held the position of Director of Customer Success at ClearlyRated, a leading CX platform for B2B and professional service firms. In this role, she was instrumental in fostering environments where team members could thrive, leading to improved client satisfaction. Her commitment to empathy, proactive problem-solving, and strategic insight has consistently resulted in high Net Promoter Scores and positive client feedback throughout her career.

A graduate of George Fox University, Ryen holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership & management with a minor in project management.

When she’s not working, Ryen enjoys dinner parties with friends, a good book, and spending time with her husband and six year old son.
